JM Stevens

Hailing from Austin, Texas by way of West Point, Mississippi, critically acclaimed Americana and roots-rock/pop singer, songwriter, and producer, JM Stevens returns three years after his well-received solo debut, Invisible Lines. Releasing in April 2024, the 10-song Nowhere to Land is an overall mellower, more vulnerable record than its predecessor, though still speckled with some up-tempo rockers. It’s a thoughtful album further set apart by Stevens’ nuanced songcraft, intimate vocals, and organic production.

DittyTV praised Stevens as, “In that sweet spot of pop-rock represented by guys like Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, John Cafferty, Tom Petty, [and] Don Henley,” while The Big Takeover noted how his “Supremely tasteful arrangements keep excess far at bay.”

From contemplative, optimistic opener “Dry Creek” and the more jaunty but no less questioning title track, it’s a record that preserves the raw emotions of Stevens’ songcraft through admirably restrained production. “I wanted to keep it real open,” he said. “And it sometimes sounds bigger that way, because there’s more space to sink into, more room to breathe.”

Pangs of love, loss and loneliness punctuate Nowhere to Land’s bouts of doubt, jealousy, and recurring hope. Songs search for that old spark as lovers grow apart but often, tempered by empathy, resolve into acceptance and letting go. “After the Storm” came to Stevens almost fully formed while out running in the wake of Texas’ infamous 2021 ice storm, while fellow standout “Cherry Sunburst” takes doing whatever it took to acquire a coveted guitar as a metaphor for losing our senses in all manner of other situations.

Catch Stevens on tour in 2024 supporting Nowhere to Land.

Greg Townsend - Record Release

Lifelong Hunterdon County resident Greg Townsend (Revolver Records) will be celebrating the release of his second EP 'Cannonball,' a culmination of 20 years of songwriting growth and evolution. Greg will be joined by bandmates from various projects over the past 20 years to revisit songs they have long since retired.

Greg is a longtime member (guitar, backing vocals) of Philadelphia rock band Desoto Jones. During many years of songwriting with friends and co-musicians, he also had written and arranged dozens of songs that were never performed or recorded by either group. In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he recorded his first solo-EP 'Learning.' It was one of the most memorable and inspiring recording efforts of his life. In late 2022, he returned to the studio to record a follow up EP entitled “Cannonball” to continue the process of bringing these unheard songs to life.

Greg's music heavily influenced by the big melodies of early 90s alternative acts and the intimate soundscapes of early 70s singer/songwriter icons. He grew up listening to bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. but has been equally influenced by melodic singer/songwriters like Jackson Brown, David Crosby and Duncan Sheik.

Widely Grown

Widely Grown is an Americana/Roots band from “one of Hudson County’s most engaging singer-songwriters'' (NJ.com), James Calleo.

Widely Grown is the inevitable sound that culminates from living a year without a permanent home. Traveling cross country with his wife and a dog in a tiny Subaru, Calleo spent 2020 camping in the Appalachian Mountains, spending starry nights out in Big Horn National Forest, and swimming in the cold waters of the Northern Pacific Coast. The pull towards Roots, Rock and Americana became as natural as the moon tugging at the tide. From those roots emerged their self-titled debut album.

They will be performing as an acoustic trio for this performance.

Thomas Johnston and Ed Jankiewicz have been singing Simon and Garfunkel songs together since they met as high school freshmen way back in the late 20th Century. Now they join forces to present a tribute show encompassing the Simon and Garfunkel catalog. The show is structured as an actual S&G concert, building to a finale and encore. The set list includes all the greatest hits, some Paul Simon solo tunes, some deep cuts along with selections from the significant influences of Paul and Artie. The performance is about 2 hours without a break, but can be abridged or lengthened to fit your event. The program has been presented at Clinton Come Together, Pumpkin Fest in Clinton, Hay Day at Readington River Farm and as part of the Stanton Reformed Church concert series. Tom and Ed have a vast repertoire of folk, rock and pop tunes and can craft a variety program appropriate to any occasion, with or without a S&G set.

Ed and Tom both live in Readington, and perform together and as solo artists at area venues. Tom recently completed his third album of original compositions, in the singer/songwriter tradition with a strong Irish influence, and frequently performs this catalog along with his favorite cover tunes. Tom has his own recording label and music publishing company in partnership with his son, and he played over 100 performances in 2022. Ed has recorded one album of original music, and has an eclectic performance schedule including the Hunterdon Symphony, the Raritan Valley Recovery Bluegrass Band, Blue Jersey Band (Django jazz, standards and more) and Peter, The Contragenarians (old-time contra dance music), pop performances as “The Human Jukebox” with an extensive list of classic pop, rock and folk tunes, and serving as a cantor, guitarist and bassist in his church music program.

Irish Seisiun (Session)

The second AND fourth Thursday of EVERY month! That means its time for our Irish Seisiun! What is an Irish Seisiun?

Unlike a performance, the musicians at a seisiun are playing for enjoyment as much for each other as for anyone who comes to listen. There are a core group of players, and others who drop in now and then. In fact, we never know who will show up or what instruments they will play—all completely acoustic and unamplified bringing the barn to life organically!

Usually one person will start a tune, and those who know it join in. Musicians play until they feel like stopping or switch tunes. The origin and spirit of this music is in playing for dancers. If Irish dancers drop by to this seisiun, they will be welcome, too! Feel free to make requests if you know an Irish tune.

To this group of musicians, virtuosity is less valued than the collective effort.

Jake Mosca, a New Jersey native, has been immersed in his musical pursuit from the age of 15. Jake has been performing in front of live audiences for more than ten years and has flourished into a true performer. Jake was featured on American Idol in 2022 and is now the front man for The Travelers. This band brings all of Jake’s musical influences together during his performances.

Growing up listening to guitar greats such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Albert King and many more, the influences are prevalent when hearing Jake's performances. However, the biggest influence of all would be his father, Jim Mosca, a Berklee College of Music alumni who imparted all of his knowledge unto his son. Now playing together on stage, both father and son have played up and down the east coast as well as overseas.

Based in the blues, Jake is now chasing his honky tonk dreams and exploring country music with a classic Nashville sound. While covering songs by artists such as Johnny Cash & Waylon Jennings, Jake is now beginning to create his own original music, blending all of his prior musical influence together for something new and original.

Midnight on the Water

Midnight on the Water

We are stoked for this new ensemble coming in with one of our favorite fiddle players Nathan Bishop!

Midnight on the Water started as an idea. The three of us - Tom, Nathan, and Dani - have collectively played well over one thousand performances with classical, jazz, trad, and pop ensembles, and in those engagements we've met a lot of crossover artists: classical musicians who play arrangements of pop songs, or trad musicians who dabble in jazz. We never really met other string players who are equally at home across all those musical contexts - until we met one another! What would happen, we thought, if the three of us got together to play ALL the music in a single ensemble? After about a year of musical exploration and rehearsal, we're pretty excited about the results. All that's missing is the most important part: you, our audience!

SAM SHACKLETON also known by his Gaelic moniker, Sorley the Bard, is a Scottish singer-songwriter and folk artist. His music is greatly inspired by the rich inter-connected musical and oral traditions of Scotland, Ireland, and the United States. He has since released his debut album, "Causeway Recordings" – awarded Top of the World by Songlines Magazine - and his subsequent EP, "Scottish Folk Ballads of Freedom," to much critical acclaim. In recent months, Sam’s videos busking around Scotland have gone viral on
